New Features Added to Gmail

Google is currently rolling out new features to its Gmail user base!

Even if you haven’t seen them yet, soon all Gmail users will automatically have them. This also applies if you use Google Apps for Business.

One of the new features is that Gmail will start automatically filtering email messages.
In the new Gmail configuration, emails will be divided into 5 categories:

• “Primary”
• “Social”
• “Promotions”
• “Updates”
• “Forums”

An exmple of a few catagories:

This means value”added emails, such as this newsletter, may end up in the “Promotions” tab
rather than “Primary” tab ” your main inbox ” UNLESS you adjust your settings.

Here’s how you can make sure emails reach your main inbox:

1. Check the “Promotions” tab for emails.
2. Drag the email to the “Primary” tab.
3. Click “Yes” when the yellow alert window pops up.

That’s it. Now you’re all set!

You also have the option of completely removing these new tabs. Go to your Gmail settings by
clicking on the “gear” icon on the upper right. Click on the “Configure inbox” link, then unselect
all categories but “Primary.”

Save your changes and you’re done!

Be sure to save these instructions if you don’t have the new changes yet.
